AnnArbor.com tops Media Audit list of news websites for local market reach

Media Audit, a multimedia and marketing research company, recently found AnnArbor.com is the top newspaper-affiliated website in the country based on its "daily newspaper and Website reach analysis," Editor & Publisher reported.

AnnArbor.com and its affiliate, MLive.com, reach 56 percent of all adults in the Ann Arbor metropolitan statistical area in a 30-day period, Media Audit found.

Advance Publications, owner of AnnArbor.com, also had the No 2. and No. 3 websites in Media Audit's analysis. They were NOLA.com in New Orleans, reaching more than 53 percent of adults in its MSA, and syracuse.com in Syracuse, N.Y., reaching almost 49 percent.

There was a lot of grief when The Ann Arbor News announced its dissolution. And I know that AnnArbor.com took their share of steam from our mostly liberal community...that does not like change. Since then its clear AnnArbor.com has done a great job, especially in connecting (directly) with this community. I'd like to see more in-depth reporting and I am sure AnnArbor.com would too...that is very costly to manage. The postings of readers are a great plus. Even if many of them are bluster. No Ann Arbor citizen can complain that their opinions (no matter how numerous) do not have an immediate outlet/audience.
