What’s the best restaurant for seafood in Washtenaw County? The voters in AnnArbor.com’s BestOf contest say it’s the The Real Seafood Company which won 1st place, garnering 80 votes.

Best restaurant for seafood voting began last Sunday and ended at 11:59 p.m. Saturday.

The Real Seafood Company held first place for much of the week; however, positions within the top 3 also were held by Common Grill, Mac’s Acadian Seafood Shack and Monahan’s Seafood Market. By the end of the contest, The Real Seafood Company was named #1, Mac’s Acadian Seafood Shack took second place with Common Grill in third.

This week’s contest is for best yoga studio.

Not surprising given how people here support places that have no other merits besides being around for a while...Common Grill is pathetic (see www.foodandwinehedonist). May have to go Real Seafood so I have a restaurant I can slam. Better fish alternatives elsewhere - such as Pacific Rim's sable.

You omitted the ".com" from your website address.

80 votes for Real Seafood and only 6 (!) for Gandy Dancer. Reminiscent of the time "Bread Basket Deli" (what???) beat out Zingerman's for best sandwich. Bread Basket Deli? You cannot be serious.

And Red Lobster gets as many votes as Gandy Dancer? If there was any doubt about the validity of these polls, this result should eliminate it.

It's a sad day when a chain wins as best restaurant.

Real Seafood is technically speaking part of a "chain"... there are a total of three: Ann Arbor, Toledo, and Naples Fla. Pretty short "chain".

Real Seafood is not part of a chain, it just feels like it. I have no idea why anyone likes it--they are sloppy, the fish is mostly overcooked, and they pour stuff all over it. The prices are too high for the kind of unimaginative, careless cooking that they do. I have tried to like it, because I have friends who do, but the final straw came when I almost broke a tooth on a piece of ice inside a piece of the "fresh catch." Now I never go, so unless it has really improved ... Mac's has never disappointed me once, but then everyone is entitled to their own taste.
