What’s the best place for live music in Washtenaw County? The voters in AnnArbor.com’s BestOf contest say it’s The Ark, which won with 99 votes, leading Kerrytown Concert House, which garnered 39 votes.

Best place for live music voting began last Sunday and ended at 11:59 p.m. Saturday.

With its early beginnings as a campus ministry coffee house and having developed into a world-renowned folk, ethnic and alternative music club, The Ark was the clear winner this week. Within just one day of voting, The Ark took the lead and remained in first place throughout the week.

Kerrytown Concert House, named by DownBeat Magazine as one of 150 top jazz venues in the world for 2011, landed in second place. This intimate venue jostled for second position with The Ann Arbor Summer Festival’s “Top of the Park,” concluding with Kerrytown Concert house in second place with 39 votes and “Top of the Park” in third, with 27 votes.

This week’s contest is for best restaurant for vegetarians.

Dining out as a vegetarian used to involve a choice between a salad (hold the bacon bits!) and cobbling together a meal from the sides menu. Fortunately, we now have a plethora of vegetarian and vegetarian-friendly eateries in the area. Now our vegetarian friends can eat just as well as their carnivorous counterparts.
