General Motors' venture capital division is betting on zero-emission transit buses, The Detroit Free Press reported today.
The GM division is investing $6 million in Proterra Inc., based in Golden, Colo., a maker of transit buses that run on lithium-ion battery packs, according to the Free Press article.
The buses have a 40-mile range and can be recharged in 10 minutes, the company says. GM's investment is part of the company's larger push to develop new automotive technology, the Free Press reported.
