The Environmental Awareness Award is presented by the AAABOR to Washtenaw County individuals, organizations or businesses who incorporate "green" practices such as using recycled materials, saving energy, cleaning up environmental problems, developing recycling programs, and promoting restoration and historical preservation with reused materials.

The Greffs were honored for installing a sustainable solar energy system to generate electricity and the majority of the hot water needed for brewery and restaurant operations. They also reduced gas and electricity usage by installing more efficient lighting and fixtures.
