Ann Arbor area printer merging with Lansing company

By Nathan Bomey

Pittsfield Township-based Huron Valley Printing & Imaging is merging with Lansing-based Foresight Group Inc.

Company officials said the merger made sense because it would create a larger, single company with a broader market footprint and consolidated services.

The new company, which will be called Foresight Group, will provide digital and offset printing services, direct mail marketing and other promotional services.

Foresight Group CEO William Christofferson said the company had 35 employees in Lansing and 11 in the Ann Arbor area before the merger. He said one person was laid off and two jobs were relocated to Lansing.

The company plans to consolidate production at its recently renovated 30,000-square-foot facility in Lansing while conducting sales, design, data and prepress work in the Ann Arbor area. The company, which currently has an office on Washtenaw Avenue, plans to seek a new local office.

"By combining our skills with those of the talented people that make up Foresight Group, we have enhanced the commitment to innovation that will continue to achieve results for our clients for years to come," Huron Valley Printing & Imaging CEO Ed McEachern said in a statement. "HVPI has always worked to develop a culture and a product/service mix that supports our goal of helping our customers flourish. This is essential in a rapidly changing marketplace, where budgets are tighter, staffs are leaner, and deadlines are quicker."
