Ann Arbor's Top 50 employers: University of Michigan leads the region

The University of Michigan and Ann Arbor's two largest health systems remained the region's top employers in 2009, according to data compiled by Ann Arbor Business Review.

democracyrox, thanks for the question. When the list was compiled in the fall, the reporter was given a different number for GM. We realized before going to press that we had an updated number from reporting on the Ypsilanti Township plant. We sent that through as a change on the list, after proofing, but the order of GM wasn't changed. I apologize for the error.

Your list says GM is No. 9 but lists it with only 700 employees. Yet it ranks higher than the VA Healthcare, which has 1,600. Is that a typo? Should GM be 1,700?
