Domino's Pizza: Delivery by zero-gravity airplane or high-wire?

By Nathan Bomey

Ever been bummed you couldn't get a pizza delivered via zero gravity airplane?

You might be in luck.

Ann Arbor-based Domino's Pizza is putting a creative twist on its delivery offer. The chain is asking Facebook users to vote on a poll asking consumers to choose the most extreme way for Domino's to deliver a pizza.

For Domino's Pizza, redesigning its core pizza recipe was a less risky move than delivering one by zero gravity airplane.

Domino's is providing the following choices:

  • The first weightless pizza delivery in a zero gravity airplane.
  • A high-wire delivery by daredevil Jade Kindar-Martin.
  • Dan 'SpiderDan” Goodwin climbing the Campanile Tower at The Venetian Resort-Hotel-Casino in Las Vegas.
  • Hitting terminal velocity with a skydiving delivery.
  • Plunging to earth with BASE jumpers at Bridge Day 2010.

These extreme options - coming after the less extreme, albeit risky decision to redesign the core Domino's Pizza recipe - will be decided by Aug. 30.

The company is aiming to top its own feat in 2009 when an order of Domino's Chocolate Lava Crunch Cakes was delivered by helicopter to tourists at Mount St. Helen's.

Now here's our question for you: What would be the most extreme way your pizza could be delivered?

You know, AKP has a point. I think it would be extremely nice if Domino's gave AKP a free pizza. And delivered it for free too. No delivery charge and no tip. Just a free pizza.

How about just not charging a delivery fee on top of the tip that is exptected? A "coupon" pizza from Domino's always looks like a deal, but after adding six bucks (delivery and tip minimum) there is no deal, just a high-priced medium pizza from Domino's.

What would be extreme enough... If Domino's drove pizzas to my house and didn't charge me for them? See, because I am extremely poor, not having to pay for pizza would make me extremely happy, and I would think Domino's was extremely cool. So I guess it's kind of extreme... in the sense of not really being all that extreme whilst simultaneously giving me free pizza. Giving me free pizza would be *awesome*.
