The Detroit Free Press reports that DTE Energy is offering incentives to consumers of electric vehicles who can help the company learn when and how often drivers will charge their cars.
According to the Detroit Free Press article, "DTE is trying to understand electric vehicle owners' habits and how much of a burden the vehicles will be on the grid. In a pilot program that launches today, DTE also is trying to steer drivers toward charging their plug-in cars overnight."

DTE is offering a flat $40 a month rate. Except I heard a GM spokesman on the radio a week or two ago say recharging a volt on standard 120v in your garage at current rates in SE Michigan would be $1 a day. I'd rather pay a $1 a day than $40 a month.
