Ann Arbor area Jimmy John's sandwich shops to offer $1 sandwiches on Thursday

By Lizzy Alfs

Lines at the local Jimmy John’s sandwich shops will likely be wrapped around the block Thursday as the company offers $1 sandwiches on its Ann Arbor-area customer appreciation day.

The event is from 11 to 3 p.m. and sandwiches numbered 1 through 6 on the menu will be $1, with a limit of one sandwich per customer.

Mary Trader of Dig Communications said the company hosts the event in its major markets across the country as a way to excite customers.

She said the lines outside the shops are typically long on $1 sandwich days, usually wrapping around the block.

There are 6 Jimmy John’s locations in Ann Arbor and 1 in Ypsilanti, according to the company’s website.

The first Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwich Shop was founded in 1983 in Illinois. Since its inception, the company has grown to over 1,200 locations in 39 states.

Last time they did they this, they had staffed up significantly, and the line wasn't long at all when I went. Just don't go right at lunch time.

Wow... I guess appreciating $1 sandwiches is just too much for most of you. So many negative comments... Go outside and enjoy the warm weather or something... .your cubicles are ruining your attitudes.

The one and only time I ate at Jimmy Johns, I paid 8 bucks for a flaccid Philly that looked about the size of a small hot dog, and that came with a bag of chips and a pop. It was pathetic. It was like Falling Down but even more exaggerated, and much more expensive. I wouldn't pay a dollar for the sandwich I received, so this means nothing to me.

You must have gone to the JJ downtown on Ann St. The one on Plymouth & Nixon is much better.

This is only a deal until you find out that the price of all their sandwiches have now gone up a dollar. 23% increase on the regular sized sandwiches.
