Lucky Haskins Antiques leaves Ann Arbor for downtown Dexter; Pet Emporium coming soon
(Editor's note: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated that Pets N Things was moving from Saline to the Lamp Post Plaza in Ann Arbor. Pets N Things is staying in its location in Saline. The sister store, Pet Emporium is opening in Lamp Post Plaza.)
Antiques store Lucky Haskins recently left its location at Lamp Post Plaza shopping complex on Stadium Boulevard in Ann Arbor and moved to Dexter.
Meanwhile, a different storefront at Lamp Post Plaza is getting a new tenant: Pet Emporium.
The vacant Lucky Haskins Antiques space is available for rent.

Owner A. Benjamin Hourani calls his new place bigger and better than the Ann Arbor space he was sub-leasing next to Armen Cleaners.
Longtime friend and fellow antiques dealer Karl Lager adds that the new Dexter location also has lower rent.
Hourani spent time in Ann Arbor as a chef for Main Street Ventures before turning his attention to antiques. His Ann Arbor location was open for three years, during which time he and his wife, Patty, a Dexter native, were envisioning a family move to Dexter.

Just a correction... Pets 'N' Things in Saline is staying where they are. They are not moving or closing. They are at 541 E. Michigan Ave in Saline. The Pet Emporium is moving locations. They are moving to the Lamp Post Plaza in Ann Arbor.

FYI we've fixed the story to reflect a few corrections: --Pet Emporium is opening a location in the Lamp Post Plaza, not Pets N Things. --Pets N Things is apparently still leaving its Saline location, but the store will not tell us where it's headed. We are pursuing a separate story on the situation with Pet Emporium and hope to have an update soon.

I'm under the impression (from an email I received from The Pet Emporium) that The Pet Emporium at the Animal Kingdom complex is closing but the Pets 'N' Things in Saline will remain open...as well as adding requested Pet Emporium product line to their line of pet foods. Am I wrong?

JC, that's true! The following email blast was sent out from the Pet Emporium. The Pet Emporium is leaving. Not Pets N Things. Greetings from THE PET EMPORIUM, We are very excited to announce we are MOVING!! We found a great space next to Trader Joe's, in the Lamp Post Plaza, in Ann Arbor. Our other shop, Pets 'N' Things in Saline, will be adding many new lines of pet food, in order to serve those of you who may not be able to make it to The Pet Emporium's new location.

I'm sad Pets N Things is leaving and I wish them well in Ann Arbor. Since they stopped selling fish, birds and other small animals, I pretty much stopped frequenting there and buying things. I'm sure they always had lookers and not buyers, but the different animals were part of the fun of going in there. Best wishes to the owners!
