MC Sports opens Briarwood Mall store, closes smaller Pittsfield Township outlet

By AnnArbor.com Staff

MC Sports opened its new store in Briarwood Mall on Monday, according to mall officials.

The store replaces the mall's movie theater, which closed in June after MC Sports signed a deal to take the space.

The 22,000-square-foot store replaces the Grand Rapids-based chain's smaller store in Oak Valley Center, the Target-anchored shopping center located at I-94 and Ann Arbor-Saline Road.

With the move to Briarwood, MC Sports will expand hunting and fishing items, chain officials have said.

The move to Briarwood also included extensive exterior modifications to the entrance of the store, located on the southwest side of the mall.

The targeted opening date for the new store had been Nov. 16. The Oak Valley store closed on Sunday.

I wonder if there are any takers on the Oak Valley site. That corner needs some new life!

Good. As long as it is not downtown. Too expensive and the parking system is on the verge of corrupt.
