People & Achievements in the greater Ann Arbor area, including Arboretum Ventures and Perich Advertising + Design

The following is a list of achievements by businesses and individuals in the Ann Arbor area:

• Arboretum Ventures, a health care venture capital firm based in Ann Arbor, announced March 23 the promotion of two members of its team, Paul McCreadie and Marcy Marshall. McCreadie, who has been with Arboretum since 2006, was promoted to the position of principal, where he will actively lead investment opportunities for the firm. Marshall, who joined Arboretum in 2005, was promoted to the position of chief financial officer, where she will lead the financial and administrative aspects of the firm.

• Ann Arbor-based Perich Advertising + Design has added five new members to its staff: Lauren Slete, account coordinator; Peter Clay, director of business development; Matt Mordarski, interactive media planner; Drew Loomer, interactive developer; and Matt Seigwald, production and design team staff.

• Ann Arbor-based Hile Design LLC has been hired to design and develop a user interface for an upcoming software product produced by Blazent Inc., headquartered in San Mateo, Calif. Blazent Inc.’s software organizes and aggregates a company’s overwhelming asset information into a clear, streamlined data report.

• Ann Arbor's Identity Salon & Spa has made several 'green' improvements. The salon will offer Isvara Organics Shampoos and Conditioners, a line of natural sulfate- and paraben- free hair-care products. Identity Salon also recently partnered with Matter of Trust, an organization that collects hair to be made into hairmats used to clean oil spills.

• The Saline Chamber of Commerce will honor several residents during its annual Saline Salutes awards dinner April 16. Mary, Peter and Sara Bowe, owners of Saline Picture Frame Co., will receive a Citizens of the Year Award. Paul Thibault will receive the Lifetime Achievement award. David Rhoads will be honored with the George A. Anderson Vision award.

• Thomson Reuters recently released its annual study identifying the 100 top U.S. hospitals based on their overall organizational performance, and several local hospitals made the list. St. Joseph Mercy, Ann Arbor was named a top teaching hospital. Chelsea Community Hospital, St. Joseph Mercy, Livingston, in Howell and St. Joseph Mercy, Saline, were named top small community hospitals.

• A national campaign using research by The Optimization Group, a marketing innovation and accountability firm based in Ann Arbor, has won the 2010 Advertising Research Foundation Grand Ogilvy Award for Excellence in Advertising Research. Campbell-Ewald, who developed the winning campaign, partnered with Optimization Group to provide advertising research for the United States Postal Service's "A Simpler Way to Ship" campaign.
