A Maryland-based company is poised to expand its branch facility in Pittsfield Township and potentially add dozens of jobs.
The Crowley Company plans to expand its building at 6564 South State Rd. and purchase new equipment that could mean up to 50 jobs, an official told the Pittsfield Township Board of Trustees Wednesday night.
The company, which specializes in document, book and film scanning for preservation, received a 12-year industrial facilities tax abatement from the board Wednesday.
“This will help us continue to build in our facility and supply more products to our customers,” said Wes Tapp, the director of technology and project management at the company’s local facility.
The abatement translates into roughly $237,000, and the 50 jobs are to be added within two years, township documents show. The company currently employs 36 people at its 20,000-square-foot operation, which offers microfilm and microfiche services for periodicals.
Tapp was the only one to address the board during a public hearing on the tax abatement Wednesday night.
The vote was unanimous, with Trustee Stephanie Hunt absent.
