The Ann Arbor Downtown Development Authority took what appears to be a low-risk move during the week by funding two new Zipcars for downtown. The existing fleet of short-term rental vehicles is already paying off - and nearly paying for itself. The two new cars will add to the transportation options for people who want to live downtown without owning a car.

Fall: “Whip It”
Ann Arbor is ready to grow as a movie production destination, and we’re having fun (and making money) with shoots around town. But our pride in the locally produced Drew Barrymore film can be tempered a bit by its national box office results on its opening weekend. It came in sixth in the U.S., prompting one national web site to note “(it) stumbled in its first box office derby” despite advance hype.
