Second Chance Quality Consignment in Ypsilanti announces closing

By Angela Smith

“All things deserve a second chance.” That has been the tagline for Second Chance Quality Consignment, a resale shop serving Ypsilanti for the last 3 years. “It is with great sorrow that we inform you that Second Chance Quality Consignment will close its doors at the end of June. Like most small businesses, we have not escaped the crisis of this economy,” states their newsletter sent out to store patrons this week.

The store is located at 1512 Washtenaw Ave in Ypsilanti.

"While our time has been short, we are proud of the positive impact that we have had in our community," the Web site says.

Community support is something Second Chance employees know much about, General Manager Chundra Johnson will continue with plans to oversee a Relay for Life Team in Ypsilanti in June supported by Second Chance.

Second Chance will remain open through June and shoppers can find a coupon for 15% off and information about upcoming sales in the store newsletter.

The store is also continuing to accept new merchandise and new consignors. Items can be dropped off, and after a onetime $5 fee, consignors receive 50% profits from all sales. More information can be found here.
