Siam Logistics moves Michigan office to Ann Arbor area

By Ben Freed

Freight brokerage company Siam Logistics moved their Michigan office to Pittsfield Township at the end of August.

The logistics company specializes in “back-haul” delivery, said broker and leader of the Ann Arbor office Matthew Navan.

“We help arrange trucks getting back home, and by doing that we ask them to take our customers' freight with them,” Navan said.

Unlike locally based Con-way Freight, Siam Logistics does not own its own fleet of trucks. As a non-asset based company, the operation relies on other company’s trucks to haul the freight.

Navan said the Michigan office is the company’s only office in the US outside of their corporate headquarters in Hurst, Texas.

“The company does a lot of work with the auto industry, and some of their biggest clients were here in Michigan, so they decided to open a local office here,” he said. Navan said there are three employees in the office, located on Concourse Drive near the Ann Arbor Municipal Airport, but that he hopes to triple in size in the next year, hiring six new brokers.

“We want to take advantage of the talent base here, and it’s a wonderful area for that,” he said.

“With the college students and other talented people there’s always an opportunity for growth.”

The company is looking to hire recent college graduates with degrees in business, logistics, supply chain management, or even geography, Navan said. They are also looking to hire new employees with experience in the freight business.

Once he finds the employees he’s looking for, Navan hopes to expand the office but stay in the Ann Arbor area.
