According to Baig, a Kindle phone from Amazon.com or a standalone television designed by Apple could join a new phone that BlackBerry developer Research In Motion is hoping will turnaround its recent misfortune. Machines capable of printing objects in three dimensions could also become more popular and less expensive.

On the software side, Baig will be watching whether major changes pay off for Microsoft as Windows 8 tries to compete other app-based operating systems.
