University of Michigan Health System CEO Ora Pescovitz will become chairwoman of the 2010 campaign for the Washtenaw County chapter of the United Way.
Pescovitz succeeds Bank of Ann Arbor CEO Tim Marshall, who announced the news this morning on Twitter.
Pescovitz, who came to Ann Arbor in 2009 from the Indiana University School of Medicine, confirmed this afternoon she has accepted the role.

As CEO of the U-M Health System and executive vice president for medical affairs, she is helping to direct the transition at Ann Arbor's 2 million-square-foot ex-Pfizer campus, which U-M acquired last year for $108 million.
"Although I wasn’t here when Pfizer was here, I’m well aware of the fact that it was a loss to the community -- especially its impact on the United Way," she told AnnArbor.com. "I guess I feel a personal obligation to make sure the United Way campaign is as successful as possible."
The Washtenaw County campaign raised about $5.18 million in 2009, up slightly from 2008. That's down from $6.1 million in 2007, when Pfizer, whose 2,100 employees and 100 percent company match accounted for about one-quarter of local contributions, was still here.
