Arbor Hospice and the University of Michigan Center for the Child and the Family (UCCF) are hosting a Grandparent Loss Program for children who have experienced the death of a grandparent. The support program will be held Wednesday Oct. 10 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. for children between the ages of six and 12 and their parents at Washtenaw Community College’s Morris Lawrence Building, 4800 E. Huron River Dr., Ann Arbor, MI 48105.

The free program, lead by griefcounselors and social workers, offers a safe atmosphere where children can engage in age appropriate activities and discussion to better cope with the loss of a grandparent. Parents will join their children in a memorializing activity and learn how to support their children’s grief while acknowledging their own. Each child will receive a book to take home that deals with grandparent loss.

The program is free and open to anyone, regardless of whether their loved one received services from Arbor Hospice. To register or find more information please visit www.umccf.org or call (734) 764-9466.
