It's almost the New Year, baby ... and the Ann Arbor Thrift Shop is preparing a special event to celebrate. After a much-needed holiday break, the shop's volunteers reopen at 10 a.m. on Wed., Jan. 2 with a huge selection of baby items for little ones. Inventory includes brand new onesies and pants in a wide variety of sizes and colors, new handmade baby quilts and knit blankets, clothing, room decor, books, strollers, high chairs, baby monitors and more -- perfect for gifts or to round out a layette.
Strong sales have made it possible for the shop to increase the amount it donates back to the community in emergency aid each month. In the 2012 fiscal year alone, this totalled more than $204,000 to social service organizations and individuals in need.
