Big Brothers Big Sisters of Washtenaw County needs 100 Volunteers!

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Washtenaw County is gearing up for our school based mentoring programs and we need your help!  BBBS offers one-on-one mentoring programs to children in need at 13 local schools (grades 2 – 8) in the Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti areas.  Volunteers meet their “Little” one time per week for one hour (usually during lunch time) and share activities together.  Please note that our school based programs are not tutoring programs. While some matches talk about class or do homework together, the main goal for their time spent together is to build a strong and long-lasting friendship.  Volunteers can play board games, do arts and crafts projects, participate in sports – whatever interests you and your “Little”.  If lunch time does not work with a volunteer’s schedule, BBBS also offers site based programs at Strong Tower Ministries (which meets every other Tuesday evening in Ypsilanti) and Parkridge Community Center (which  meets every other Wednesday evening in Ypsilanti).

The goal is to make 100 new matches before the end of the year and we need your help in order to make this happen.  By volunteering just one hour per week, you can make a difference in the life of a child.  Also, you can help us spread the word to your family, friends and co-workers.  Big Brothers Big Sisters would be more than happy to schedule a brief presentation at your place of work, worship, school or organization.  For further information on getting involved and how you can make a positive impact in a child’s life, email Big Brothers Big Sisters of Washtenaw County at:   inquiry@bbbswashtenaw.org or call (734)975-0933.
