Southern Michigan Railroad Society's annual spectacular Fall Color Tours start this Saturday and Sunday, October 13 and 14 departing Tecumseh South Rail Yard at 11 a.m.; 1:30 p.m. or at 4:00 p.m. Take time out for this unique experience to enjoy a train ride through the countryside to a stop over where you receive complimentary cider and donuts and a refreshing visit with family, friends, other passengers and our train crew!
The Fall Color Tours will continue Thursday through Sunday, October 18-21 and October 25-28, but you need to get your reservations in to save a space on the train! Visit the web at www.southernmichiganrailroad.com where you may use our online reservation form or email us at smrs49236@yahoo.com or give our museum number a call at 517-456-7677 to get your name and the number of people in our book!
Train fares are $15 per adult, $12 for senior citizens ages 65 years and older and $9 for youth ages 2 to 12 years, with babies under 2 riding free. Our ticket agent will collect cash or check only on the day of the ride, but make sure you arrive at least 15-20 minutes prior to departure to park and get your tickets!
The train departs from the SMRS south Rail Yard located at 806 S. Evans Street, Tecumseh, which is six blocks south of the main downtown intersection of Evans and Chicago Boulevard (M-50). Parking is located in the grassed area at the rail yard. Dress for the outside weather conditions as the rail cars are unheated, and many may enjoy the view from our open gondola. You may bring blankets to keep warm!
Come celebrate Michigan's fall splendor and take a leisurely train ride. Celebrate 30 years of preserving this railroad history with SMRS, an all volunteer, 501(c)(3) charitable organization. All Aboard!
