The University of Michigan School of Social Work student group, S.W.A.I.R (Social Work Alliance for Immigrant Rights) will be hosting a Dia de los Muertos Rally to call attention to inhumane deportation law that divides husbands from wives, and mothers from children. The rally will take place on Thursday, November 3rd, from 5-6:30pm at Liberty Plaza in downtown Ann Arbor. It will feature a talk by one of the brave women facing deportation and separation from her family followed by a moment of silence for all families divided by unjust immigration law during these difficult times.
One of S.W.A.I.R.'s founding students says, "It is our goal to unite students, community members and organization to promote just immigration reform. We have seen the damage caused by the current laws: families divided, homes destroyed and children orphaned, and believe it is time to raise our collective voices against them".
