Free Day Camp for Children in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti

Camp Bradford was created four years ago by the Wolverine Summer Camp (WSC) Counseling Staff to provide local kids with a day camp experience held right here at West Quad. Over the past three years Camp Bradford has provided roughly 80 local children with this opportunity. The counselor staff plans to continue this endeavor again this year.

For normal campers, attending an athletic camp such as WSC costs about $500, if not more. While there are many quite influential and affluent members of the Ann Arbor community with children, it is equally important to recognize those children who are financially unable to attend a prestigious camp such as this. Therefore this summer, Wolverine Summer Camps will be putting on the 4th Annual Camp Bradford, a completely free day camp for children in the Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti area. For children ages 10-18, free lunch and dinner will be provided, as well as a day completely full with camp activities and adventures. From scavenger hunts to tie dye, we strive to provide a positive camp experience for children who do not have the privilege of attending an overnight camp.

Additionally, Camp Bradford has created a fund (donation based) to sponsor a student in the Ann Arbor area to attend an athletic camp of their choosing at Wolverine Summer Camps next summer. We have been working hard as a staff to collect donations, in the hopes to give an underprivileged student in Ann Arbor the ability to attend our camps.

Here's where you fine people come in! What we need most is to spread the word! We have been working diligently to raise the money to put this event on, but without the participation of children in the community, our efforts will be wasted. Any help you can provide us will take us one step further in brightening a child's summer! This event will be taking place on 27 July 2012, with registration beginning at 9am and camper pick-up at 5pm. To register for free parents and/or campers only need to email campbradford2012@umich.edu with their interest.
