Ann Arbor secondary school student volunteers for miRcore, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit research organization in Ann Arbor, voted to do research and advocacy on Alzheimer's for the 2011-12 school year. They engaged with the local community including the University of Michigan Turner Center’s Silver Club and came to understand the seriousness of the disease.

They have put together a video and writings based on what their experiences and interviews with affected individuals and started a fundraising effort through Indiegogo, a crowdfunding site. You can learn about Alzheimer's from the site,

They have also started a club at Huron High School, GIDAS (Genes In Diseases And Syndromes). The Huron GIDAS will hold assemblies on Alzheimer's featuring a guest speaker on May 22nd, 2012.
