Short wins coveted award for dedicated, active participation in educating and moving the accounting profession forward

Ypsilanti, MI October 24, 2012—Local SE-Michigan business owner, Kristy Short, Ed.D, president of rwc360, LLC and partner and CMO in RootWorks, LLC, earned “Top Most Powerful Women in Accounting” recognition by national trade publication, CPA Practice Advisor. Over the past few years, Short has emerged as a leader and educator for the profession with several professional speaking engagements, webcasts, educational white papers, and published articles to her credit. Short actively works to educate the profession in the areas of marketing, branding, and public relations.

“The accounting profession isn’t what it used to be. The percentage of female practitioners is rising quickly, and even better, the number of women in executive positions is growing rapidly as well,” stated Short. “There are more opportunities for women in accounting than ever before. And let’s face it, chicks rule!”

This year marks the first annual “Most Powerful Women in Accounting” award. The list serves to recognize women who are having the greatest impact on the tax and accounting profession and who are emerging as the next generation of firm leaders—whether through new technologies, practices, workflow, or dynamic work environments.

“I am honored to be named to this prestigious list alongside so many amazing women,” said Short. “To date, I’ve worked with hundreds of firms, helping them establish sound marketing and branding programs to advance their practices to next-generation status, and I will continue to work in and for the profession for many more years.”

“Women play an important role in the accounting profession. Sixty percent of practitioners are women, and with the “Most Powerful Women in Accounting” award, we want to highlight those who are contributing to and shaping the next-generation firms,” said CPA Practice Advisor Executive Editor, Darren Root, CPA.CITP.

The Top Most Powerful Women in Accounting list was published in the November 2012 issue of CPA Practice Advisor.
