Lowe's, Milan Bakery and Marco's Pizza Rally to Support Milan Children's Preschool

Milan Children’s Preschool received the wonderful opportunity to be chosen for the Lowes Hero Project 2012. On August 11th ten employees from Lowes on Carpenter Road will be volunteering at Milan Children's Preschool. With a $1000 budget, they will be painting one side of the building, repairing the storage shed and replacing landscaping around the school’s sign.

In a spirit of community support, the Milan Bakery and Marco’s Pizza have generously offered their services to those volunteers.  The Milan Bakery will provide baked goods in the morning and Marco’s will provide a pizza lunch.

The Milan Children’s Preschool is a non-profit organization that has served the Milan community for over forty years as a cooperative educational program.  The school’s goal is to offer a strong foundation for student’s academic careers, and it provides a vibrant program enhanced by the continued dedication of parents, teachers and a supportive community. 

 

MCP is run by a board of parent volunteers and parental involvement has helped to keep tuition and operating costs at a minimum. However, as a non-profit organization, MCP simply does not have the funds for large improvement projects and depends on the support of the community.

 

As a cooperative preschool, parents interact with the teacher and the children in the classroom on a regular basis.  This allows parents to better understand how children are processing social, emotional, and educational information.  A co-op education also fosters a unique network of parents and children which can last well beyond the pre-school years. 

Milan Children’s Preschool is located at 25 Park St. Milan and is now enrolling children ages 3-4 for the 2012-2013 school year. During Milan’s summer fest on August 4th, there will be an open house from 10 am to 2 pm with free face painting and treats.  There will also be an open house for registered and prospective students on Wednesday August 22nd from 5:30-7:30 pm.
