New Leadership at Lamaze

(ANN ARBOR, MI) – The Lamaze Family Center (LFC) Ann Arbor is pleased to announce the hiring of Ellen Terpening, PhD, its new Executive Director.

 

Terpening has over 20 years experience in the educational field and over 8 years experience in the non-profit sector. Her skills and areas of expertise are in program development, operations, community relations and sales/fundraising. She has a Ph.D. in Educational Administration, a Master’s in Education and a Bachelor’s in Early Child Development.

 

“We are very inspired by Ellen’s vision of the future of the organization,” says Julie Lubeck-Hofer, Chair of the Board of Directors. “Ellen’s strong foundation in education and nonprofit management will serve the organization and our community well.”

 

Terpening’s role as the Executive Director is to forecast, design, develop and implement the annual budget and strategic plans for the Lamaze Family Center in a cost-effective and time-efficient manner. She is responsible for fundraising and the day-to-day operations of the organization. She also oversees and develops community partnerships, program development and educational courses reaching families throughout the state of Michigan. Terpening has been a resident of Oakland County, MI for over 25 years where she lives with her husband and 7 children.

 

Lamaze Family Center Ann Arbor, a non-profit organization founded in 1967, is staffed by rigorously trained professionals who promote the well-being of the family and the concept of family-centered care from pregnancy to preschool. The organization has fostered a solid reputation as a leader in childbirth education, while also evolving to incorporate many other aspects of prenatal and postpartum support. In addition to Lamaze Childbirth Education, LFC offers breastfeeding, infant care, new mother support classes, as well as mother’s groups, parent-toddler playgroups, and a sibling class for soon-to-be big brothers and sisters.
