The Socialist Equality Party and the International Students for Social Equality invite you hear Socialist Equality Party candidate for president of the United States Jerry White speak (details below). This will be your chance to ask questions of the socialist candidate and hear answers about the great issues facing working people, students and youth today.
The experiences of workers, students and youth in Michigan demonstrate the need for the working class to build an independent political alternative. Republican Governor Rick Snyder, in alliance with Democratic party administrations such as that of Mayor Bing in Detroit and the Obama administration, are carrying out massive cuts that are undermining social services and affordable, public education.
In the 2012 elections White is calling for a radical restructuring of social and economic relations. Instead of private profit, White insists the society should be run in the service of human needs. To secure the resources needed to provide quality education and good paying jobs for all those able to work, White is calling for the public ownership of the banks and big corporations under the democratic control of the working class. The precondition for such a struggle is for working people to break with the Republicans and Democrats, the two parties of Wall Street.
White is not running a conventional campaign. The aim of the SEP is not simply to get votes, but to prepare the working class for the struggles to come. What is needed above all is an independent political leadership, program and perspective.
The SEP and ISSE encourage all workers, students and young people to take this opportunity to find out more about the socialist alternative in 2012. Come to this meeting and become involved in the SEP campaign today!
