Get ready for “Strokes for Strokes” golf outing to be held on July 11th, 2012 at
Brookside Golf Course in Saline, MI.

This is our eighth golf outing! We are really looking forward to a great event.
This is a community golf outing organized to promote physical activity and
socialization for stroke survivors. “Strokes for Strokes” has helped to raise
awareness of the vitality that is possible for stroke survivors and their
families. We have also raised money for local stroke support groups and rehab
programs.

“Strokes for Strokes” began in 2004 with the enthusiastic leadership of Mike
Shatusky. Mike is a former U of M running back who had a stroke following heart
surgery in 1997. Mike has a big smile, a dedicated, positive spirit and a
toughness that has helped him with may life lessons. He has maintained high
energy and determination throughout life. Following his stroke, Mike and his
wife Jan focused their efforts to reclaim vitality and a vibrant role in the Ann
Arbor community. They shared a vision of encouraging other stroke survivors to
get back into an active, engaged lifestyle as much as possible. Mike loves golf
and found that golf did wonders to help his balance and hand-eye coordination.
We encourage you to join Mike, Jan and our many volunteers on July 11th to keep
that spirit alive in you as well. A fun day of golf and socializing awaits you.

Brookside Golf course is a great setting for this event. We shorten the course
to a 9-ole, par 3 scramble with a shotgun start and up to 40 participants, their
families and supporters. We are tremendously grateful for the terrific community
support and interest with several donors and supporters providing logistical,
financial and equipment help. We particularly appreciate the prior support from
the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Rehabilitation Program, The University of Michigan
Center for Language and Communication Disorders, Glacier Hills Care and
Retirement Center, Heartland Health Care Center of Ann Arbor, Evangelical Home
of Saline, and Main Dish Kitchen of Ann Arbor to name just a few of our terrific
sponsors.

We welcome donations to help offset costs as well as to help promote local
stroke awareness and rehabilitation programming. For further information about
“Strokes for Strokes” please contact Dr. David Steinberg at 734-712-0050. We
hope to see you on July 11th, 2012 for some golfing and a great time!

Sincerely yours,

“Strokes for Strokes” Outing Committee
