The Saline New Horizons Band,
under the direction Dr. Joseph Labuta, was founded in June of 2004 and has
become the de facto “Community Band” for the Saline area in Michigan. The
membership has grown to over 60 musicians since it started. The group has also
expanded to not only the larger band but several smaller ensembles including
the Little Big Band Jazz Group, the German Band, the Brass Ensemble, the
Clarinet Choir, and a Saxophone ensemble with the promise of more to come. All
of these groups are available to entertain and can be contacted through the
Saline New Horizons Band website (www.salinenewhorizonsband.org) or email (email@example.com).
The Saline New Horizons Band will
be busy for the rest of 2012.The Saline Michigan New Horizons Band will be
joined by Measure for Measure (http://measure4measure.org/),
the premier all men’s choral society in a special performance on Sunday, November
11, 2012, at 4:00 PM in the Saline Middle School Auditorium located at 7265 N.
Ann Arbor Street, in Saline Michigan as part of the Washtenaw County Veterans
For this program, the Saline New
Horizon’s Band and Measure for Measure Choral Society will perform patriotic
arrangements that are both classic and inspirational.
The Saline New Horizons Band
members believe in moving at all times, so right after this great concert there
will be the Annual Holiday Concert, and several ensemble Holiday Concerts
during the month of December…and there is more to come in 2013.
The bands are part of the New Horizons International Music Association.
Our adult band is open to musicians of every level of experience and many of
our members are over 50. Some of our members have played musical instruments
many years ago in school but some are brand new to reading and playing music.
Some of our members are expanding their "new horizons" with private
instruction on their instrument. The main ingredient in our band is the
opportunity to make good music and good friends. If you are interested in
joining the band, just come to one of our rehearsals. We rehearse on Tuesday
evenings from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. and on Thursday afternoons from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m.
at Liberty School at 7265 Saline-Ann Arbor Road in Saline.
