Village of Dexter optimizes water fluoride levels!

Posted: Apr 21, 2011 at 4:49 PM [Apr 21, 2011]

As most of you know, the Village of Dexter will be adding a small amount of fluoride to the water system the week of May 2nd.   This will bring the level of fluoride in the Village water to an optimal level of approximately 0.7 parts per million (in accordance with current Centers of Disease Control and Prevention guidelines).

What does this mean for you and your family?

--- IF YOU HAVE DEXTER VILLAGE WATER (and do NOT use a reverse osmosis (RO) filtration system), then you and your children NO LONGER NEED ANY FLUORIDE SUPPLEMENTS.  You should stop taking your fluoride pills and contact your dentist if you have any questions

--- IF YOU HAVE DEXTER VILLAGE WATER (and DO use a reverse osmosis filtration system), then the fluoride is being filtered out by your RO system, and you and your family should maintain supplemental fluoride as directed by your dentist.

--- IF YOU HAVE A PRIVATE WELL or some other non-Village of Dexter water supply, then nothing changes for you and your family.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding your dental health or optimal water fluoridation levels, please feel free to contact us via phone (734-426-9000) or email (drkolb@dexterfamilydentists.com).
