The Washtenaw 100 is pleased to announce that WJBK Fox 2 News Reporter and Volunteer Firefighter Ron Savage will be the speaker at this year’s Annual Dinner on Thursday, October 25, 2012 taking place at the Kensington Court Hotel, in Ann Arbor.  Cocktail reception and silent auction will begin at 6:00pm with the dinner program at 7:00pm.

Mr. Savage is a FOX 2 News reporter, and is the weekend co-anchor, with Robin Schwartz for FOX 2 News at 6 and 10. He also produces and anchors FOX 2 News’  Michigan’s Most Wanted feature.  The FBI, DEA, U.S. Marshals and Michigan State Police confirm thirty-six (36) fugitives have been caught directly due to profiles on MMW.

In addition, Mr. Savage is certified by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.  A Michigan firefighter, born and raised on Detroit’s northwest side, Ron holds a license registered with the State of Michigan as a Medical First Responder.  He is also a graduate of the State Police firefighter academy, certified at the Hazardous Materials/Operations Level, Ice Rescue and Emergency Diving.  He has served on four USA fire departments and currently is an on-call firefighter with the Brighton Fire Department, assigned to Engine Company 32.

Ron received two unit citations for outstanding line of duty performance: for a commercial factory fire in 2001 and a critical injury multiple car crash on US 23 at I-96 in 2002. “The Washtenaw 100 is thrilled to have Mr. Savage as this year’s speaker,” said Club Chair Karl Couyoumjian.  “Ron brings a unique perspective being a volunteer firefighter and active in the pursuit of criminals through his Michigan’s Most Wanted features,” added Couyoumjian.

The Washtenaw 100 Club Annual Dinner serves as the organization’s largest fundraiser of the year.  The Club uses the dollars generated to support the Police Officers and Firefighters throughout Washtenaw County through a scholarship program for dependents, assist with special equipment needs and provides funding to the families of personnel who are killed in the line of duty.
