Robin Seay, Emily McGlone, Elissa McGlone and Megan Seay received their “God and Church” religious award on January 31, 2010 at the Lincoln Community United Methodist Church in Ypsilanti. The girls are all members of Cadette Troop 41052 in Belleville, MI.

They began working on their “God and Church” award in September and completed it by creating a morning worship service and award ceremony. When asked what they enjoyed best about the “God and Church” program, the honorees said they most enjoyed their visit to Hope Clinic in Ypsilanti, where they provided food and gift baskets as part of their community service.

During their visit, a community member came in to request assistance and the Girl Scouts were able to provide it. It touched the girls’ hearts to know that they had a positive impact on a family’s life.

Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan supports a girl’s spirituality by providing information on religious awards to girls and adults, promoting interfaith and multicultural events, recognizing award recipients and acknowledging Girl Scout Leaders for their service to both Girl Scouting and their religious institutions.

Girl Scouts functions as a support for girls—it does not embrace or teach any religious doctrine or beliefs. For more information, contact Alison Ashley, program liaison for religious awards, at 1-800-49-SCOUT or visit gshom.org.
