Ann Arbor Cuts Off Water to Community Gardens

The City of Ann Arbor has cut off water to a number of community gardens, including the one on Greenview Street. This decision was made without any expressed concern for the gardens that people have labored over there. Te director there said that the City's decision had no flexibility. Project Grow collects money from the gardeners there for use of the plots. The understanding was that the plots would be useable until October 20. In some cases, whole families or multiple families have invested time and money in growing food for themselves.

One gardener was heard saying, "They show up periodically, and the message is always the same. Were the boses, and what we say goes. These arrogant people should get in their Mercedes and leave town permanently."
