There are opinions regarding the commercialization of Pink that represents breast cancer. FYI the Pink Ribbon is one of the most recognized brands worldwide, up there with Coca-Cola. Yes, we in the corporate world, sponsor numerous events for millions of dollars to create awareness among women and men. This makes us socially responsible and builds the brand, resulting in dollars for research and driving people to make sure they are anually checked out for this horrific disease. Branding and building awareness is paramount. For those who say donate the same funds to research are on target. However without the branding tactics that compete against other foundations and private partners seeking monies, there would be less donations. This is from a guy who is a breast cancer survivor, and who with his students from Florida State University founded The Alliance for Breast Cancer Awareness in Women and Men.
