The Unicycling Society of America will be holding the 2012 North American Unicycling Convention and Championships (NAUCC) on July 11-15, 2012. The family friendly FREE public show will be held at Saline Middle School, 7190 N Maple Rd, Saline, Michigan 48176, on Saturday, July 14, 7pm, and will include performances by the 2012 Expert Individual and Pairs routines (think like Figure Skating, only with Unicycles!). Other events and workshops will be held at various locations in the Saline area. For more information check out the NAUCC 2012 web-site: http://www.naucc2012.com/default.aspx
Over 250 Unicyclists from around the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico will be competing in solo, pairs, and group artistic events; track and field – even high jump and long jump; distance events; off road MUni, trials, and street events; workshops; and team competitions of basketball, and hockey. All events are open to the public.
The Unicycling Society of America promotes and encourages unicycling in the United States and the rest of the world. It does this through regional and national conventions, setting skill level and competition standards, connecting unicycling clubs, the Society’s magazine “On One Wheel”, and its web-site, www.uniusa.org
The Redford Township Unicycle Club (RTUC), Michigan’s largest unicycle club, is proud to be this year’s host club for the 2012 NAUCC. RTUC began in 1975. The Club is now inter-generational with many fathers and mothers riding with their children and several active three-generation families. Current activities include improving artistic ability, participating in parades, explaining unicycling to community groups, classes in how to ride a unicycle, competition in national events and of course being a good social group.
