Former Saline Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Larry Osterling, will be the
target of the 2012 Ellen Ewing “Roast”. This Saline Area Chamber of Commerce event began in 2001
with the “roast” of Saline’s own, well-loved former School Superintendent Ellen Ewing. The popular
evening of honoring a high profile person in the Saline community has become notorious for its choice
of fun individuals who have been deemed willing and capable of enduring kidding and zings from a
panel of specially-selected “roasters”. Past “roastees” include Judge Don Shelton, Police Chief Paul
Bunten, Fire Chief Craig Hoeft, former School Superintendent Sam Sinicropi, former Saline Mayor Pat
Little, and well-known community figures Woodie Merchant, Bill Mangold and Will Warner.
Larry Osterling was the SACC Executive Director from 2000 till May of this year. Larry is a
member of Saline First United Methodist Church and District Treasurer. He was actively involved in
Saline Area Youth Baseball & Softball Association and a Director and Coach for many years and former
banker with what is now PNC Bank.
According to Chamber Executive Director Art Trapp, “Past “Roasts” have been a rousing
success, and with Ellen’s help we’re looking forward to another fun evening”. The Ellen Ewing “Roast”
will be held on Friday, September 14th, at 6 p.m. at Stonebridge Golf Club in Ann Arbor. Everyone is
invited to join the Chamber in honoring Larry Osterling. Reservations are required at a cost of $28 per
person, $30 after September 10th. For further details contact the Saline Area Chamber of Commerce at
