Saline Area Social Service will be sponsoring its 23nd annual Share Day on May 21, 2011. This is a day when the entire community can help fund the many programs that the locally based agency administers.  The agency is a locally run social service agency, manned by a small administrative staff and local volunteers, which helps citizens in short-term need in the Saline Area School District. The agency runs a food bank and helps with short term needs such as utility cut-offs, prescription drug costs not covered by insurance and school supplies for students in the Saline School District.  According to Don Dersnah, Director of the Agency, “Our income limits for being a client are $1,670.00 per month for a single person and $3,400.00 per month for a family of 4.  These limits allow us to serve more members of the community who are struggling in these hard economic times”.

On Share Day, local participating restaurants will be making a donation to the Direct Aid Fund at SASS. The community can help by eating in or taking out orders at the participating restaurants in Saline. In front of participating restaurants will be displayed red and white-checkered flags to help remind the public to come in, have a great meal and help their neighbors in need. One hundred per cent of the money donated on this day is used to help neighbors in need in the community.

It is suggested that that the public mention that they are there to support Share Day when they patronize the participating Saline restaurants on May 21st. These restaurants are: Benito’s Pizza, Dairy Queen, Mangiamo’s Italian Grill, Maplewood Lanes, Mark’s Midtown, Mickey’s Dairy Twist, and the Saline Inn.

Businesses sponsoring the event this year are:  American Soy Products, Ann Arbor Benefit Administrators, Briarwood Ford, Gerry’s Tire, the employees of Raymond James – Doug Gross Office, the Saline Reporter, and Weidmayer, Schneider, Raham & Bennett, P.C.
