The Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra celebrates Christmas in concert with American Idol sensation David Archuleta. The A2SO welcomes Archuleta to Ann Arbor for this exclusive performance, Christmas from the Heart, on Friday, November 27th at Hill Auditorium, 8:00 pm. Ann Arbor is the third stop on Archuleta’s tour, Christmas from the Heart, featuring a program of Christmas favorites and Archuleta originals. He is joining the A2SO for his first-ever symphony orchestra concert, with brand new orchestrations to be premiered in Ann Arbor. The A2SO rounds out the concert with holiday selections including the Nutcracker Suite and Sleigh Ride.
Christmas from the Heart, released on October 13, is David Archuleta’s first Christmas album. This holiday debut features the sensational Archuleta on favorites like Angels We Have Heard On High, Joy To The World, Silent Night, and Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. Mixed in are beautiful arrangements of Gounod’s Ave Maria, the French traditional Pat-a-pan, and the Spanish traditional Riu Riu Chiu. Rounding out the collection is an original Archuleta song, Melodies of Christmas. The album promises to be another huge success for Archuleta.
The incredible 18-year-old David Archuleta made a huge splash in 2007 with his appearance on American Idol, catching the attention of 49 million voters with his charisma and phenomenal talent. Since then Archuleta’s career has taken flight with international concerts, hit songs, and recently an acting debut. He has now released two albums (David Archuleta - 2008 and Christmas from the Heart - 2009) with three of his singles debuting on The Billboard Hot 100. In the summer of 2008, Archuleta traveled the United States with Disney’s “American Idols Live!” tour. He followed this with a tour in the United Kingdom in April and May 2009.
