15th Annual Family Halloween Party at U-M Exhibit Museum - Fun, free and educational

By Tammy Mayrend

I thought to highlight a fun event that my family and I attended in Ann Arbor two years ago - The annual Family Halloween Party at U-M Exhibit Museum (1109 Geddes Ave Ann Arbor, Michigan 48109).

On the last Sunday before Halloween however you're likely to find witches, warlocks, skeletons and ghosts, flowers and fauna, and superheroes extraordinaire - And that's NOT including the displays. This year the university is celebrating the 15th Annual Family Halloween Party. It is a fun, safe celebration of Halloween that educational as well!

By combining entertaining activities, crafts, games and presentations for formal science learning, the Exhibit Museum's Family Halloween Party has become one of the most popular Halloween activities in the area. Journey through the Museum and discover special stations, displays full of hands-on activities and live animals!

Come in costume, almost everyone does, and don't forget your goodie bag — There are plenty of treats to be had throughout the Museum. The party is suitable for all ages, and happens from noon to 5:00 p.m. on October 25. The best part about the event is, it's FREE with no reservations or tickets necessary. My best recommendation to families who have never attended the event is to come early and be prepared to be patient, it will be a jam-packed day, but well worth the visit!

If you've never visited the exhibit hall, it is a wonderfully fun way to spend a day with your family. The building itself is nicely laid out with many exhibits including dinosaurs fossils, a planetarium, rocks and minerals and plenty of natural wonders that make science accessible for kids and adults of all ages. Take a look at their recent video:

I'm looking forward to attending the Halloween party again this year, and I KNOW the kids are. Stop in for your amazingly fun and educational day.
