Ann Arbor Civic Theatre’s Junior Theatre presents a stage version of Roald Dahl’s beloved children's book, "James and the Giant Peach," directed by Jenny Anne Koppera. Performances are March 24-26 at 7:30 p.m., and March 26 and 27 at 1 p.m., at WCC’s College Theater.

All tickets are $5 and are available by phone at 734-971-2228, or at the door of WCC’s College Theater before each performance. The production is suitable for children ages 4 and up. Additional information is available at www.a2ct.org.

In this award-winning adaptation, playwright Richard P. George brings the wonderful characters and amazing story of James and the Giant Peach to life. Adventures abound as James struggles to free himself from imprisonment and rescue the Giant Peach.

Because of the wealth of talent at auditions, James will be played by three young actors, and the ensemble will play multiple characters. All actors will perform in some capacity in all five performances.

“What’s especially exciting about this production,” Koppera said in a press release, “is that we have such an amazing ensemble of creative and active young artists bringing this joyous and imaginative story to life through theater, dance, music, and puppetry! The actors are included in developing all aspects of our production: scene and character, choreography, costume, sound, props, and set.”

With the assistance of a grant from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs, A2CT was able to provide scholarships for participation in the production and will offer free performances to local afterschool programs that benefit at-risk and underserved youth.
