A2CT announces auditions for 'God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater'

Ann Arbor Civic Theatre announces auditions for its production of Kurt Vonnegut’s musical comedy, "God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater," directed by Rob Roy.

Auditions take place Saturday, October 30 at 3:30 p.m. and Monday, November 1 at 7 p.m. Callbacks, if needed, are Tuesday, November 2 at 7 p.m. All regular auditions take place at A2CT’s Rehearsal Studio, 322 West Ann Street. Callbacks location information will be given at regular auditions.

Kurt Vonnegut’s "God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater" tells the story of Eliot Rosewater, the son of a powerful Senator who is married to an International beauty and is president of the multi-million-dollar Rosewater Foundation. Haunted by PTSD and guilt, he runs away from his charmed life; but his erratic behavior and large fortune attracts the attention of a young shyster lawyer who plots to prove that Eliot’s insane.

Based on the Vonnegut book of the same name, the show features music and lyrics by the powerful team of Howard Ashman and Alan Menken. Rosewater has roles for 8-10 men ages 20-80 and 4-6 women, ages 20-70. Those auditioning should prepare 16 bars of a Broadway-style song (not from the show) and should bring sheet music. Auditions will also consist of cold readings from the script and and some limited movement/dance.

Those auditioning need attend only one of the regular audition dates but should be available for callbacks. No pre-registration is required. Production dates are January 27-30 at The Arthur Miller Theater.
