Don't-miss People's Choice video; "Survivor" cast; Elvis Presley's best; and more

Well, the annual glut of entertainment awards shows has begun. The People's Choice Awards took place last night, with "Twilight" and Taylor Swift among the big winners. For a complete rundown, here's the official site. MTV.com's complete report is here, while USAToday's coverage is here.

Whether you care about the PCAs or not, Queen Latifah's funny "New Moon" spoof is worth a look:

TELEVISION:

• One sidebar to the People's Choice Awards: The event resulted in a perhaps-not-entirely-intentional release of the full cast list for the upcoming "Survivor: Heroes and Villains," as detailed in this item from zap2it.com.

• Juggernaut "American Idol" returns Feb. 9; the hype is already upon us, with EW.com featuring an interview with judges Simon Cowell and Ellen Degeneres.

• Mekeisha Madden Toby of The Detroit News has an overview of returning midseason shows.

• Entertainment Tonight posted this video recently about “How I Met Your Mother” reaching its 100th show.

• EW.com reports that David Hasselhoff is leaving "America's Got Talent." Gee, that show just won't be the same ... I guess.

• In a good sign for fans of the show, Digital Spy says that ABC has ordered two more episodes of "Cougar Town."

MUSIC:

• The super-popular Lady Gaga hits Joe Louis Arena in Detroit next Tuesday and Wednesday, and in preparation, The Detroit News' Adam Graham breaks down the five stages of Lady Gaga fever.

• Rachel May of the Detroit Free Press has a story about the new album from regional favorite Jill Jack. Watch AnnArbor.com for a preview of Jack's upcoming show at The Ark.

• The Los Angeles Times continues a discussion about Elvis Presley's best songs, and embeds a video of the classic "Jailhouse Rock" sequence from the movie of the same name.

• ABC reports that Japanese conductor Seiji Ozawa has been diagnosed with cancer.

ART & EXHIBITS:

• The Detroit News' Michael Hodges (an Ann Arbor resident) has a nice feature on multimedia artist Robbie Best, who currently has a show at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in Detroit.

• The venerable Detroit Institute of Arts has elected new board members, The Detroit News reports.

STAGE:

• Writing in the Detroit Free Press, John Monaghan has an intriguing review of "The Last Five Years" at the Furniture Factory in Detroit.

• John Monaghan also has a story about the new comedy offering at Andiamo Novi Theatre, "Act Your Wage ... The Pink Slip and Fall of an Automotive CEO."

RADIO:

• MLive.com reports that although he's leaving the airwaves, Jay Towers still has a job in radio.

MOVIES:

• Continuing our countdown to the opening of "Youth in Revolt" tomorrow, The Detroit News has an interview with star Michael Cera, and here's a feature story from the Free Press. • Finally, when Kevin Smith was at the Michigan Theater last year, the filmmaker talked quite a bit about the experience of recently working with Bruce Willis. That movie — “Cop Out” — is coming out next month, and here is a preview:
