According to The Hollywood Reporter, rocker Andrew WK, who grew up in Ann Arbor, plans to drum for 24 hours straight in an attempt to set a world record.

Starting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, WK will drum at the Oakley flagship store in New York’s Times Square, as part of “Live Music Day,” and Viacom’s O Music Awards 24 hour live stream special.

THR reported that Questlove will sit in with WK at the start (and several other guest drummers will follow), and that WK has been preparing by using weights instead of sticks while air drumming.

“I want to feel like it’s harder than it is,” WK told THR. “I’d rather be over-prepared.”

WK is nominated in the Must Follow Artist on Twitter category of the O Awards.

Just found this livestream of him playing. He is currently 17 hours in and seems to be a bit tired, but still keeping a steady beat: http://on.mash.to/12XS1IA
