Hilary Swank and Sam Rockwell star in "Conviction"

Fox Searchlight recently announced that the Hilary Swank feature film shot in the Ann Arbor area in early 2009, "Betty Anne Waters," has been re-named "Conviction." The current release date is October 15.

Also starring Minnie Driver, Sam Rockwell, Juliette Lewis and Peter Gallagher, "Conviction" is based on the true story of a single mother who worked her way through years of college and law school in order to work for the release of her wrongfully incarcerated brother.

The film was shot in several local spots, of course, including U-M's Angell Hall and Pierpont Commons. The point is well-taken, though, and I've altered the headline to reflect that the film was shot in the Ann Arbor area, not just AA proper.

Funny, I would have sworn that this film was shot primarily in Depot Town in YPSILANTI, especially at the Sidetrack.
