Ann Arbor's Sophie Grillet wins first prize in Lansing art exhibition
"Women Hold Up Half the Sky"
Ann Arbor Women Artists are collaborating with the Michigan Women's Historical Center and Hall of Fame in Lansing to present an art exhibition titled “Celebrating Women”.
The juried exhibit features artists' interpretations of women, their roles, relationships and importance as leaders.
Ann Arbor artist Sophie Grillet is today being awarded first prize for her brightly colored oil painting Women Hold Up Half the Sky.
Grillet currently has work on view in Ann Arbor, with artists Colleen Retherford, Katie Halton and Barbara Anderson at Babs' Underground Lounge, 213 S Ashley. An opening for this show will be held on Nov 11 from 7-8 p.m., with drinks available from the bar.
The Lansing exhibition runs Nov. 7-Jan 31 at the Women's Historical Center and Hall of Fame, 213 W Main St., Lansing 48933. Phone 517-484-1880. Museum hours are: Weds-Sat 12-4 p.m. and Sun 2-4 p.m.
