The Ann Arbor-based Blackbird Theatre Company is preparing to celebrate its 15th year with a series of workshops and performances. However, most will take place at the new Detroit Ensemble Black Box—located inside Michigan Actors Studio at 648 E. 9 Mile Road in Ferndale—while one production, of Shakespeare’s “Cymbeline,” is scheduled to take place at Ann Arbor’s West Park in June.

Raw Weekends at DET will feature fully staged readings of new and classic plays, and happen on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., April 12-20. Tickets are $10 at the door, and the lineup includes: Patrick Marber’s “Closer” (April 12); Jeff Chastang’s “A New Play” (April 13); Shakespeare’s “Measure for Measure” (April 19); and Edward Albee’s “A Delicate Balance.”

“Cymbeline” will play Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m., June 14-29, at the West Park band shell, at 300 N. Seventh Ave. in Ann Arbor. Tickets will be $20 ($15 for students). Directed by Barton Bund, the production will feature Lynch Travis, Jamie Weeder and Qamara Peaches Black.
