The Library of Michigan has released its annual Michigan Notable Books list, and Ann Arbor has made a strong showing. Of the 20 books on the annual list, 4 are from Ann Arbor authors or were published in Ann Arbor.

Two non-fiction books published by University of Michigan Press made the list: "Bath Massacre: America’s First School Bombing" by Arnie Bernstein; and "Isadore’s Secret: Sin, Murder and Confession in a Northern Michigan Town" by Mardi Link.

Ann Arbor novelists were also honored. Author Steve Amick made his second appearance on the list with "Nothing But a Smile: A Novel," and Don Lystra was recognized for "Season of Water and Ice," a coming-of-age story set in northern Michigan during the 1950s.

The Michigan Notable Books is an annual list highlighting books which are about or are set in the Michigan or Great Lakes area, or are written by Michigan authors. The list is voted on by representatives from libraries, book retailers, and news organizations. You can see the entire list on the Michigan Notable Books site.
